Volunteer Application

In partnership with Great Lakes Disc, hosted by Keystone Community Church Mary Free Bed Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports is excited to host a one day Adapted Disc Golf Clinic.  Volunteers are needed to assist participants.  

June 18 – Time 9am – 3pm. Please wear clothes and shoe that are able to get wet. Volunteers will be expected to kayak or canoe for both sessions. Lunch will be provided.

Event Description
 
The Mary Free Bed Junior Wheelchair Tennis team is for children with physical disabilities with a desire to play tennis. This is for anyone that wants to play at any level ranging from beginner to advanced. Players will work on skills, learn mobility, and hit thousands of tennis balls. Players must be between 7-18 years of age to join! This summer players will practice two times per week. (No practice week of July 4th and week of July 25 for sports camp).

Practices: Mondays and Thursdays, June 9 - August 28 from 5:00pm - 6:30pm

Volunteers are needed to assist at practices this summer for the West Michigan Rolin' Whitecaps Wheelchair Softball Team. Practices are from 5:30 - 8:00pm Tuesdays at the Mary Free Bed YMCA

Volunteers will assist participants during the workout. Exercise experience is recommended but not needed. We ask that volunteers are available for all classes on Thursdays, from 5:30-6:30pm for the entire 6 weeks. 

Volunteers will assist the participants in order to have success shooting an arrow for this one time clinic. Instructor will be providing directions. Please arrive at 5:45pm. Email thomas.flynn@maryfreebed.com with additional questions. Need at least 3 volunteers.

A volunteer is needed for Adaptive Swim Lessons on Tuesdays  from 5-8pm at the Mary Free Bed Therapy Pool. Swim experience is recommended but not needed. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and will be working with children 18 and under and under the supervision from our certified swim instructor.

This two-hour clinic will be held in conjunction with the West Michigan Fencing Academy to introduce the participants to the fast-paced sport of Wheelchair Fencing. This clinic will be led by the instructors at the West Michigan Fencing Academy.

Volunteers are needed for the Future Frenzy Wheelchair Lacrosse. This position is for those who have been asked by the sports coordinator or coach. Series!  Practices are Monday evenings from 5:30pm - 6:30pm from June 4th through July 7

Choose a shift for Mondays June 9-August 25 from 4:45pm-7pm or Thursdays June 12 - August 21.  The volunteer will be responsible for letting wheelchair and adaptive players in and out of the wheelchair entrance.
