Summary
Description
Join us on May 16th, at the Hudsonville High School Fieldhouse for a dynamic and inclusive Adaptive Track & Field Clinic, running from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This hands‑on experience introduces athletes to the foundational skills of track and field while adapting each event to support a wide range of physical abilities.
Participants will explore events such as wheelchair racing, ambulatory sprints, seated throws, and standing throws—all tailored to meet each athlete’s unique strengths and mobility needs. Our coaching team will focus on proper form, adaptive equipment setup, safe skill progression, and confidence‑building instruction. Whether athletes are brand new to the sport or striving to advance their competitive abilities, this clinic provides appropriately challenging activities, individualized support, and a positive pathway for growth.
Beyond event‑specific training, the clinic highlights the values of physical fitness, independence, and social engagement. Athletes train alongside peers in an encouraging environment that celebrates achievement, effort, and adaptive sport participation. Athletes will also gain insight into both local and national pathways available within Adaptive Track and Field.
This clinic is designed for individuals 7 years and older who have a physical disability and are free of cognitive impairments. No prior experience is necessary—just curiosity, motivation, and a willingness to try something new.
Most importantly, this event serves as the official launch point for our upcoming Adaptive Track & Field program, which we plan to introduce next season. Attendees will get a first look at our coaching style, training environment, and the community we’re building—one rooted in inclusion, growth, and the belief that every athlete deserves the opportunity to thrive.
